Great Travel Moment On August 15, 2008, after selling our home in Gig Harbor, Washington, we embarked on what became the best experience of our lives. We spent four months and traveled over 11,000 miles, mostly over back roads with our pop-up tent trailer. We tried to learn something new everyday and experience the beauty and history of America. During a drive through Theodore Roosevelt National Park outside Medora, North Dakota, we came across two horses that typified our feelings as it pertains to the Dakota Badlands. In this stark, yet beautiful environment, survival requires cooperation. These horses perfectly depicted a spirit of love and affection to go along with being able to cope with the harshness of the environment. Additionally, we were reminded of the important role horses played in the westward expansion and early exploration. |
