Great Travel Moment Therapeutic horseback riding changed my life positively in every aspect. Although I remain too disabled to hike, kayak, backpack, or any of the other outdoor sports I used to enjoy, I can enjoy the wilderness when I ride a horse. Moreover, riding, even long distances, relieves the symptoms of my illness: I feel less fatigued, my chronic pain is lessened, I have more stamina, mobility and flexibility. Horseback riding also functions as moving mediation: I am more relaxed and focused and those endorphines are swelling. In short, I am thoroughly happy. Winston Churchill once said "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man." I know that there is something about being on a horse that is nearly miraculous for this woman. |
