Great Travel Moment Walking about the Amer Fort and Palace complex in Rajasthan, my friends and I found refuge in various "chatris" and arcades between the sporadic bouts of rainstorms and scorching heat that swept through the region that day. Circling around the upper level on the edge of the complex where the servants quarters were held, a short break in the shade provided a double opportunity: we had a chance to cool down, and enjoy the framed view of the palace across the bustling courtyard. At one point in time, this perspective of the complex may have represented a disadvantage, but that day, it was a privilege to see the world from that window. |
