Great Travel Moment If there is one thing I learned during my travels in India, it was exciting and evident that the country is one of contrasts and unseemly complements. A boat trip to the bustling city of Mumbai proved to be a brilliant contrast to the floods of people that make it the industrious environment that it has become. This historical city exemplified for me the dichotomies we experienced: Mumbai is an empire of opportunity, but a tyrant over the swells of slums; new buildings are dynamic yet their neighborhoods are victims of violence; old neighborhoods are examples of community, except the buildings of their heritage are left to crumble. In contradictory elements, India finds a way of weaving cultures together and finding connections in the least of places. This sunset over an industrial park is an example of how seen together, a culture finds balance to preserve itself for future generations. |
