Great Travel Moment On August 15, 2008, after selling our home in Gig Harbor, Washington, we embarked on what became the best experience of our lives. We spent four months and traveled over 11,000 miles, mostly over back roads with our pop-up tent trailer. We tried to learn something new everyday and experience the beauty and history of America. In December we again connected with Route 66--the "Mother Road"--in Kingman, Arizona. We did get our kicks on Route 66, albeit only the Kingman portion. We thought of Steinbeck?s Grapes of Wrath and those who traveled the road only to be turned away upon arrival in California during the Great Depression. This image speaks volumes about the experience. The American West, Harley-Davidson, the "Mother Road." |
