Great Travel Moment On a recent trip to India, I had the chance to get up close and personal with the Taj Mahal. One of the beautiful and captivating qualities of the Taj is its keen sense and use of scale. In most photos we see of the tribute to love, it appears as a flawless monument which has withstood the test of time. However, on closer examination, the general quality and condition of the mausoleum up close is quite alarming. Was I discouraged by the state of Love today? No, not really. To see the dedication of a people making a vocation out of repairing and detailing the finer pieces of the tomb, one semi-precious stone at a time, I was reminded that love takes a lot of effort and needs help to mend the broken pieces. For these men, it is all in a day's work. |
