Great Travel Moment Had you asked me any other day if I found joy in the use of a broom, my answer would definitely be no -- I hate sweeping. However, on a humid day in Agra, as my friends and I found shelter from the sun in the Guest House of the Taj Complex, I watched this dedicated man with curiosity as he graciously tended to the side hall. Back and forth he whisked the giant hand-crafted sweeper as precise and elegant as a Hindi folk dancer; he could have been dancing with Mumtaz Mahal herself! Enraptured by the way this man was humbly acting as a true custodian to the Taj grounds, I had the urge to grab a broom myself and help to preserve the Taj Mahal. Pride of place has certainly helped me to reevaluate my own sweeping moments as I travel. |
