Great Travel Moment I traveled to Iceland last month with my wife and a few friends. We hiked deep into the mountains to a geothermally heated river that had a small pool. It was about 15 degrees Fahrenheit and the winds were blowing at around 30-45 mph. We were freezing and struggling through the the mountains, breaking a trail through the snow, and following a series of wooden stakes every few hundred meters which led the way to the valley with the river. It was one of the hardest hikes I've ever done. But when we got there and slipped into the hot water, surrounded by ice peaks in every direction, it was absolutely magical. I took this photo while we were hiking out. You can see my wife and the stuffed lemur we travel with peeking out of her bag. The hike was the highlight of the trip and is something I will never forget. |
