Great Travel Moment Shopping the Egyptian markets can be hot and dusty! These colorful red and gold cushions beckoned us to take a break and relax. But what were those contraptions scattered about? A swarthy dark-eyed male demonstrated the hookah or shisha, better known as the "hubbly-bubbly", on the street in Sharm el Sheikh. As he lit the flame, a delightfully aromatic apple fragrance wafted over us. The hookah operates by indirect heat and water filtration and, although often used for tobacco, it can also be used for smoking herbal fruits. Soon, nestled in the cushions, we enjoyed tea and sweets as the soft bubbles of the shisha soothed our souls. |
