Great Travel Moment Near the end of our Alaska vacation we chartered a bush plane to take us to Katmai National Park to view coastal brown bears. It was early in the season, with the possibility of not seeing anything, but we lucked out. Pictured is a mother brown bear and her cub digging for clams on the beach. At one point, they walked by within 50-feet of us, moderately curious, but generally un-disturbed by our presence. Taking a plane allowed us to reach rather remote parts of the park and to be able to witness such powerful predators in their natural habitat, and to see that they rarely had any form of human contact was truly unique. There are still areas of the world that are somewhat untouched, and that is a beautiful thing. |
