Great Travel Moment

Tales of Kerala In 2008 I took a much awaited trip to beloved India with Silk Route Escapes. "Tales of Kerala" are the sights, sounds and colors of bejeweled India, as I see it. Lakshmi and the Day at the Rubber Plantation Sunday, March 2, 2008 We spent the morning driving about an hour from the resort to a Rubber Plantation with the intention to visit Lakshmi, the elephant, and her caregiver. Lakshmi was rescued from the circus and her caregiver is her life partner. Together they live a unique existence of love and compassion, understanding, gratitude and purpose. It was a sublime and beautiful experience sitting atop of this beloved creature and observing the landscape of flowers, vanilla and cashew trees, coffee and rubber plants harmoniously living amongst the smiles and humility of the village people. Smells of spices and old wood scented our walk together and as the rain drops fell gently and passed. A blessing of divinity in that very moment. Simplicity and grandeur.
