Great Travel Moment While illuminated and golden, I took this shot of the Shwedagon Pagoda (known as the Golden Pagoda is the most sacred pagoda for the Buddhist people of Myanmar) shortly after nightfall during my family's first trip to Myanmar. The plane ride was a little more than 26 hours and we arrived at the hotel by late afternoon. We were so exhausted, but were immediately taken by our tour bus to the very first location on our 6 day tour of our "motherland." But it was worth losing sleep. It was a beautiful warm night with tourists and locals everywhere, the cool tiles felt nice under our bare feet. No shoes allowed. It was so great being there with my entire family and the Shwedagon Pagoda was such an impressive sight - created by my ancestors! |
