Dream Trip 2009Goats on the Pathway to the Monkey Temple, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India

Great Travel Moment A penetrating difference I observed between India and the Western world was the extent to which wild animals co-exist among humans, a normality whose implications scatter between savagery and symbiosis. The contrast of their grayscale fur against the Terra cotta pink of Imperial Jaipur and the strange willingness of these goats to pose almost as if directed, seconds after chasing my friend Dora and I on our ascent toward the famous Monkey Temple, transposes this profundity into the portrait of an instant that I can only hope will digitize my awestruckness precisely enough for you to feel it. |
