Great Travel Moment On August 15, 2008, after selling our home in Gig Harbor, WA, we embarked on what became the best experience of our lives. We spent four months and traveled over 11,000 miles, mostly over back roads with our pop-up tent trailer. We tried to learn something new everyday and experience the beauty and history of America. Route 66: the Mother Road, success and failure during the march west. We got hooked on Route 66 while in Springfield, IL, and explored and experienced the essence of what is and what was. From Chicago to Los Angeles, drive-ins and motels provided the means for Americans to move west. Since you've got to eat, we decided that we had to stop at the Cozy Drive-in for a Cozy Dog. Drive-ins were the first fast food joints, and the Cozy was no exception. I ordered a Cozy Basket, which consisted of four cozy dogs and a large order of fries that I gladly shared with my wife. After lunch we thought we would never have to eat again. A true American experience. |
