Great Travel Moment I took this photograph from an airplane when I was in my early twenties. I have had it with me for many years. It is unique to me because it reveals the curvature of the earth and the delicate space that is the life-giving atmosphere around us. This image also reminds me of my childhood, traveling many times between Europe and America. I would sit next to the airplane window and dream of running barefoot across blankets of clouds. I know that reality betrays appearance and I would slip straight through them but in my mind's eye I was leaping from cloud to cloud. Watching the clouds from above was as close as I might ever come to being a bird. I love to see tufts of white dispersed across the sea and a sky of gradual blues endless above. The space in this moment feels like infinity. |
