Great Travel Moment As part of a study abroad trip with my university, I took a small plane out to the Kuna Yala Islands, a cluster of islands inhabited by native Indians and largely untouched by Western culture. I stayed on an island no more than a quarter of a mile long and with no running water. I had my choice of sleeping in a small grass hut or out on a hammock next to the ocean. Food was caught and cooked by the Kuna Indian men and fresh water came on a canoe from the Panamanian mainland in the distance of this photo. I was sitting on the beach at dusk when I saw my friend out by the abandoned dock. He looked like he was at the edge of the world, completely alone, and looking out into the infinite abyss. |
