Great Travel Moment On our honeymoon in Puerto Rico, we wound our way through the narrow, cobblesone streets of San Juan, marvelling at the bright colored old houses and the intricate twists of iron balconies.Emerging from such an alley, my eyes were refreshed by this breathless sight--a sinuous statue, arms raised to the heavens like a glorious incantation, as a riot of clouds twisted across the sapphire sky. This image is, to my memory, the perfection that can only be stumbled upon, unsought.Travel is meant to arrest our frenetic pace and give us pause to reflect and this moment brought silence in the midst of a city and a breath of cool salt air on a steamy afternoon. There is peace in this tumult, indeed. |
