Great Travel Moment On a recent East Coast trip, we spent two days in Charleston, SC. We chartered a boat and a guide and went catch and release fishing in the swampy brackish waters leading to Charleston Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. Our guide (pictured here with our son) had a degree in biology and was a true font of knowledge on the local ecosystem. His boat was able to go into water as shallow as 6 in., enabling us to visit an environment few people ever see. Our boys caught red drum, sting rays, and a true appreciation of our Southern coastline. (The last of which, they did not release?!) As a homeschooling family, we are always looking for hands-on opportunities to learn more about our world and ourselves. This was an unbelievably rich experience for all of us. |
