Great Travel Moment In Egypt, the present day is closer in time to the biblical era than the biblical era is to their ancient ancestors. It is hard to imagine 5,000 years ago -- but to see it and touch it is beyond words. Behind us are the Great Pyramids, one of which, the Pyramid of Khafre, we had just walked inside. It makes one wonder: what will be left of us in 5,000 years? Here, my wife is doing her best to pretend that she is not terrified of the camel on which she is sitting (nor curious about the muzzle on the camel). This is special to me because she is smiling -- despite the fact that she was unsure that she wanted to go to Egypt or of what we would find there. She went because I wanted to go. I am smiling because she's willing to step into the unknown, for me. |
