Great Travel Moment When my mother and I drove to Glacier National Park in Montana I don?t know what we were expecting, but it was far exceeded by what we found. I thought (naively) that there couldn?t be much more to the state than I had already seen. I had moved to Montana from California the summer before, and my mother had driven with me. Unfortunately, her time in Big Sky country consisted solely of trips to Target, furniture moving, and dripping brows. Determined to make it up to her, she flew out and we went to Glacier. This view of craggy, backlit Mount Wilbur really encompasses the awe we felt sitting on that balcony. Luckily, our stay at the historic Many Glacier Hotel, perched on Swiftcurrent Lake, just may have gotten me back in the will. This was my first lesson in underestimating the majesty and guile of Montana, and my last. |
