Great Travel Moment

This picture, taken from the back seat of a car, portrays a typical scene on an Indian highway. Signs of human life (hotel receipt, business card) reflect in the window. On the dashboard we see the ornate tissue holder and the Hindu symbol, while from the rearview mirror hang signs of luck and protection. Meanwhile, vans, buses, trucks, jeeps, scooters and motorcycles pass on an inside lane every few minutes, leaving little margin for error. At any moment, a flock of sheep, a family of goats, or a cow and her calf could wander into the road, bringing traffic to a screeching halt. Through the window we are reminded that we are but a hostage to circumstances and, in spite of the best seat belts or fancy travel clothes, face mortality like anybody else at any time.
