Great Travel Moment This cute critter from Cozumel proudly stood atop the ruins of this sacred, ancient Mayan temple -- a.k.a. "home sweet home". Unfortunately, the Swine Flu scare cut this pristine little island off from the rest of the world for awhile. Lucky for us, the restrictions were lifted just one week before our planned arrival. We hopped into a taxi cab with our driver -- and soon to be "new best friend" -- Rufino. We simply wanted a ride to the Punta Sur Eco Park -- but, he ended up spending the entire day with us! With business down, he had nothing better to do. He was a HOOT! He shared pics of his grandkids, went to the museum with us, climbed the steep, narrow lighthouse, and ended up snoozing next to us in a hammock on the beach. No, he didn't have a bathing suit with him in his taxi. He simply kicked off his shiny black dress shoes and was quite a site laying next to bikini clad tourists in his dress shirt and long black pants complete with black dress socks -- snoring away. |
