Great Travel Moment Seldom do I have my own deserted island. Heading to the beach where I would meet the skiff, I heard the distant sound of the anchor being hauled up. The sun was setting, bathing the beach in liquid gold. Ahead of me was an Oyster Catcher, feeding in the gentle waves lapping on the beach. In the distance I heard the boat engines start, but I was focused on photographing the Oyster Catcher. Soon after the boat became very small. I intensified my focus, Oyster Catcher, Oyster Catcher. Then the boat was gone, the sky turned red and the Oyster Catcher flew away. I was alone on the beach; it was very quiet and getting cold. Darkness fell as I considered my predicament. Was I dreaming? Eventually my absence was discovered and the skiff dispatched to retrieve me. This photo reminds me that it's always good to have a ride. |
