Dream Trip 2009IN-STEP WITH ROME PASSER-BYS IN THE PIAZZA DI SPAGNA

Great Travel Moment On our last night in Rome we found ourselves nearby the Spanish Steps in the Piazza di Spagna searching for gelato to crown the scrumptious supper we'd dined on earlier. The Spanish Steps deemed just another gathering place for tourists, hadn't made our Rome itinerary cut. You guessed it! We had a change of heart. Although the Step-lingerers were mainly generation-Xers, the passer-bys comprised of locals and tourists (of all ages), provided balance. So we joined in the evening stroll with cone scoop gelatos in tow before heading back to our hotel. Looking back on this night in the photo, reminds me of how welcoming the Romans were to us during our stay in this glorious city. We'd quickly learned Rome is a walking city and to be at one with its vibrant city beat, partaking in the evening strolls along side Romans, is a great starting point. |
