Great Travel Moment My wife and I arrived in Belgium after nine hours in a plane, followed by a short train ride to Brussels and a longer train ride to Bruges. It was 6:00 AM Philadelphia time, and we had slept less than three hours on the plane. When we checked into our hotel, we were tired and cranky. We intended to take a three-hour nap to re-set our internal clocks and re-energize our internal batteries, but when we awoke seven hours later, the sun was in its decent. We rushed out. We ate mussels, ice cream and brandy. Bruges proved to be elegant and pure, a fairy tale come alive. Walking back to the hotel, it was dark. The city lights were on. I took this photo of a dark view of the canal. I thought to myself life in Bruges is good and all is right with the World. |
