Great Travel Moment

Along the coast of Kauai, I was hiking ocean tide pools backed by textured and dramatic rock. There were big circular pools, warm and filled with fish. Smaller pools held rocks rounded by millennia of wave action. There was beauty all around me, but something special in the way the light was magnified or reflected created stars floating in the sea of this basin. As water ripples broadened in their influence the stars became larger. I treasure this image because as the people around me were swimming in larger pools, snorkeling and observing marine life, I found this secret place of sea stars that no one else seemed to notice. This image represents a solitary discovery of the magical, glistening again and again in the frozen frame of my mind's eye and in photographic prints.
