Great Travel Moment Alaska, the last state in the U.S. to visit and I could say I had been in them all. I was finally able to go just a couple of weeks ago, on a cruise. Yes, it was cold and cloudy, but that only added to its mystical appeal. The view of the shoreline as we made our way up the inside passage, was captivating and mesmerizing: mountains engulfed in misty clouds, miniature icebergs floating in the water, humpback whales, eagles soaring overhead. My favorite place, captured in this picture, was atop Mt. Roberts in Juneau. I rode the tram part of the way, then hiked solo up the mountainside. The surroundings and the view grew more beautiful with every step: a 360 degree vista that represented the best part of Alaska. It captured my heart and guaranteed a return visit in the future. |
