Great Travel Moment I took this photo during a misty day in February 2009. We decided to hike in Kaua'i near Mount Wai'ale'ale. In my mind, this hike was to be something along the lines of hiking Diamond Head, or Manoa Falls, but this was those times a hundred. Trudging ahead were two Michigan boys utterly at home in the wilderness. I on the other hand, grew up in New York, and it's not every day we have an opportunity to hike more than the concrete jungle. Nevertheless, as one hour turned to two, to my sheer delight the valley opened up to the humbling and hugely gratifying scene in this photo. I've probably never been more terrified than that day we hiked/swam/clung onto moss-laden rocks. But it's true that, "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away." (Anonymous) |
