Great Travel Moment Traveling across the Sahara Desert in North Africa was at first a daunting task; I envisioned sandstorms, excessive heat and a very brutal environment. But what I found was a serenity and quiet I have never found anywhere else before. The desert was like an ever-changing museum of art with the sand as the paint and the wind as the brush -- there was a different sculpted dune at every turn. The skies seemed bluer than ever before against the reddish tint of the desert. The Sahara can be a very lonely and unforgiving place but those who approach it in the correct manner and with the right mindset are in for a treat they will find at no other place in the world. It is no wonder the Berbers prefer the desert to crowded cities. |
