Great Travel Moment Outside Jaipur, we stopped at a fort, of which there are many in Rajasthan. Each is exquisite in its own unique way and each adds dramatic insight into the rich cultural heritage of the region. In the background of this particular fort, ascending the slope runs the remaining wall that surrounded the inhabitants of the area. It is clear from the architecture and towers that protection was ever important. As the years went on, the tourists arrived, and here, in 2009, I stand with my hat, shading my head from the desert sun. Now back in the U.S., I see that the photo depicts a collection of objects, myself included, each bearing a point, a prong or a protrusion. I am reminded that I, too, will one day belong to history. |
