Great Travel Moment One of Morocco's most defining features is the ever-present sunlight. Shade is a commodity, searched for and hoarded, and best enjoyed in big refreshing gulps. Midway through hours of hiking through old ruins and the remnants of abandoned settlements we stumbled upon a former stable for the horses of long dead kings, the roof of which was mercifully still in tact. My friends and I actually ran inside we were so excited to have a bit of shade. It felt amazing, but at the same time we couldn't help but think that we were depriving ourselves of the real experience. After a few minutes the sun's glare began to look more like a beacon, leading the way towards more excitement and exploration. We gave in to the temptation and headed out once again into the fierce heat. |
