Great Travel Moment After a day of horseback riding in San Miguel de Allende, sweaty, tired and thirsty, we ventured into Berlin, a bar and cafe on Umaran in downtown SMA. We sat at a table near the bar, the only ones in the room except for the Don Quixote lookalike at the bar. Hunched over, smoking, he was the rangy, lean picture of colonial Mexico, looking like he could be reminiscing his losses and hopefully the occasional victory in war, and love. But, I pulled out my camera to photograph the muy bonita bartender, and heard, not a stream of poetic Mexican, but, "Hope your camera doesn't break." in an American drawl. The expat was great fun and offered up some insight into the insider's San Miguel de Allende, and yes, even a riff on loves and losses. |
