Great Travel Moment

This photo was taken in Yangshuo China, just outside of Guilin and along the Li River. This is a fairly simple shot, but there is something that seems so poetic, and uniquely China, about it to me. The picture was taken at the small market where our cruise along the Li River ended. It is a bale of fresh lychee fruit in the basket attached to the back of a bicycle. Bicycles transporting small loads of goods to markets were ubiquitous throughout China, and it's hard not to be reminded of our trip when thinking of lychee fruit. The contrast of the red lychees against the green leaves with the stone background is beautiful to me, and the shot somehow perfectly captures the mood and feeling of our trip to China.
