Great Travel Moment According to the tour book, the sunset at Oia on the island of Santorini, Greece, is not to be missed. But we are tired from our day at the beach and all the walking we did in Fira. Our feet are sunburned and our backs ache. Somehow we manage to re-energize and take the bus out to Oia and walk some more, trying to find the perfect place for a view of the sunset. We choose a spot, but then decide that over there looks better, and then oh, that's ever better yet. We wile away the time by talking to other tourists, comparing travel stories, and petting the "love dogs with no names" (Rumi) that follow us whenever we move. Finally, there it is - the golden moment that was so worth waiting for: the sea bathed in magnificent shades of gold and yellow for us to view, no matter where we are standing. |
