Great Travel Moment We told the taxi driver to take us to the market, I don't know if he understood. We ended up on the streets of Mumbai, near a temple. The monks blessed us and I realized just how little I know about the world I live in. A local took us around, finding things we never would on our own, though my cynical mind distrusted him. And then the noise started, men filled the streets and a celebration began. The drums and horns were incredible. I looked to my friend and tried to take the photos that wouldn't begin to do the scene justice. We returned to our ship exhilarated, knowing we hadn't squandered our day in Mumbai. I always want to see the 'real' cities I visit, not the shops selling items made a world away. That day was very, very real. |
