Great Travel Moment As we enjoyed a cool drink one evening at a trattoria in Rome's Piazza Navone I noted how families and friends were slowly gathering into small clusters for the evening. This one group of friends caught my particular attention. They clearly knew each other, had lots to share when they initially met, and seemed very content to sit and relax, and enjoy the respite while commenting on the goings-on in the piazza as the evening wore on. The woman on the left noticed the zoom lens on my camera, remarked to her friends, straightened her back and sat taller for the photo in which she knew she was going to be included. I believe this photo captures the quintessential piazza experience in Italy...a place in which to enjoy another's company, perhaps cool off a bit, but most importantly a place in which to be. |

This happens everyday in cities all across Europe, where groups of people meet up in the city center to talk. I wish it happened more here in the states, rather than cell phone and text message conversations!
