Enjoying the Yangtze river cruise

Great Travel Moment
The Three Gorges Dam built on the Yangtze river has change an unnavigable river to one that is 145 to 175 feet deep. As a result, people who lived and farmed by the water lost their homes and were forced to move to higher ground. As you can see in the photograph, new bridges had to be built, and in the distance you can see one of the new cities to house displaced people that were formed. Although the Three Gorges Dam was built to control flooding and improve navigation, a third benefit was the creation of beautiful gorge scenery that we were fortunate to experience on our trip. Additionally, we were able to visit many ports that we as tourists could not easily access. Also memorable were the large number and variety if cultural and scenic sites visited.
