Great Travel Moment This shot was taken in Oia, Santorini the day before my friend's wedding. We'd gathered the group together who had traveled from California to Greece to watch the sunset. I remember looking at the stunning beauty of homes built on cliffs and the ocean spread out before us. Then I noticed the spot of pink and saw that someone had stuck a sprig of Bougainvillea in the barbed wire. I looked at it and couldn't help thinking about the paradox between the gray, sharp, twisted barbed wire and the soft, bright pink petals of the flowers. The love and friendship shared by our group was represented in the bright flowers and the harshness of the every day world was the barbed wire. This moment stays with me because we were all half-way around the world helping celebrate love. |
