Great Travel Moment One of the best things about traveling is discovering quirky local rituals like this one in Portugal. As a kind of rite of passage, students at a local university jump into, or are thrown into, the fountain in Lisbon's main square at the end of the school year. I caught this serendipitous moment while making my way to the Lisbon train station and consequently missed my train. The energy from this celebratory scene was so contagious that soon everyone was missing trains, skipping appointments and making their way to the fountain to partake in the aquatic revelry. Travelers like us were particularly caught up in the moment because we shared a similar joy with these students - the delicious feeling of new found freedom and an unquenchable excitement for what new adventures lay ahead waiting for us to discover. |
