Great Travel Moment Earlier this year my wife and I were traveling to the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, Michigan to celebrate a traditional Memorial day weekend. Twenty Five years ago when we lived in Michigan full time, this weekend was always considered a special event for my children and spouse. The weather at this time of year can be nice or downright cold. Transportation between the mainland and the Island is accomplished by booking passage on one of the three Ferry Boat lines providing service. We elected to ride on one of the newer jet boats that make the trip in about twenty minutes. As we were underway I looked at the stern and was treated to this special Memorial Day highlight of our Stars and Stripes against the background of a giant water roostertail sprayed by our boat. |
