Great Travel Moment I'd never liked Paris... until I spent a few days alone there. One morning, I decided to explore the Carrousel & Tuileries Gardens. Sure enough a clap of thunder and, instantly, torrential downpour. People start running, screaming and flailing their arms... welcomed drama in an otherwise uneventful day. I join in and we all run under this little arch, huddled together to avoid the rain. We start communicating with our faces, eyebrows raise saying "what are you gonna do?" heads tilt skywards asking "think this'll let up?" and people begin to smile. After about 15 minutes the skies clear and the most AMAZING rainbow forms above the Louvre! I figured these strangers would have left the cover to enjoy the site in semi-privacy, but no one moved. I guess we simply wanted to finish the shared experience together... I fell in love with Paris that day, and all without a single word. |
