Great Travel Moment

It goes without saying that Manhattan is a whirlwind of motley people and places; it never stops even for a breath and it has so many contrasting and irreconcilable qualities. It is dirty, glamorous, high, and low, and with every turn, you learn a little more about yourself and you fall under its spell a little more. On the day of this photograph, like many other days, I was lost. It was getting later in the afternoon and the clouds were rolling in. I had no idea where I was; the only thing I knew was that I was far from the numbered streets and that scared me. Then I saw this. This mural reflected everything I was feeling. I didn't understand it, there was neither a start nor a finish to it, it was consuming, and it just cemented that I was inexplicably enamored of that city.
