Great Travel Moment We were visiting Venice in late October when the weather in Europe can be changeable. The day had been clear, and that evening we spent hours dancing in St. Mark's Square to different bands that took turns playing in front of their restaurant sponsors. The square was crowded with people out for a stroll, and the outdoor tables were filled with diners. Around 11 PM a very light, misty rain began to fall. For us it was time to head back to the hotel, even though the sprinkles didn't bother the crowds in the square. The next morning we walked back to St. Mark's to visit the cathedral and were absolutely shocked and amazed at what came into view. The rain had intensified overnight and, along with a high tide, had completely flooded the square! What we saw gave new meaning to the word "boardwalk". |
