Great Travel Moment The springtime tulips,daffodils, and cherry blossoms had all come and gone in Vancouver, so we decided to beat the rush, and do our road trip across Canada in late April, in what we would traditionally call "low season". By the time we arrive at the Point-au-Pere Lighthouse in Rimouski, Quebec, to see the Empress of Ireland museum, we were in the midst of what we affectionally now call the "Tour de Ferme" (tour of the closed). It was not "low season" in the Gaspe, it was "closed" season. We did not see the Empress, but we did have the most amazing clear, cold, and sunny day without a soul in sight - reminicent of the seafarers of days gone by, when their only friend was the flashing light of the lighthouse. |
