Great Travel Moment

When this picture was taken, I had been in Morocco for 10 months. I met a friend from the states in Marrakech for the weekend and he snapped this picture in front of one of the hundreds of food vendors in Djemaa el Fna. I had many wonderful experiences in the villages during my stay in Morocco, and I also endured many difficulties. It was incredible to meet my friend amidst the vibrant pulse of Marrakech in the busiest square in Africa. It was during our few days there that I realized how much I had grown, how well I could communicate in the ancient Berber dialect I had been studying, and how alive I felt. This picture reminds me of the joy that emanated from inside me during that time in my life.
