Great Travel Moment Washington DC, the US capital has attracted tourists for decades. Most come to see the museums, monuments, and political buildings. When you venture into the district neighborhoods you find a diversity of people, restaurants and homes. This picture is taken in the historic U Street neighborhood home to the Ben's Chili Bowl where President Obama was recently seen eating, Duke Ellington's birthplace, and a pulsing hip urban nightlife. On any given corner you can find a yoga studio, jazz bar, drug store, or Ethiopian restaurant. Bohemian Caverns was frequented back in the day by artists like Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald under it's previous name Crystal Caverns. I will always be reminded by this photo that our capital is much more than the White House and Smithsonian. |
