Great Travel Moment Because we live far from most of our eight grandchildren, we decided to take each on a trip to a foreign destination of their choice for their eleventh birthday. This photo of our grandson, Michael Burrowes, was taken 4/12/09 at The Great Wall in Badaling, China. We started in Beijing where we saw the Temple of Heaven, Tienanmen Square and the Forbidden City. We then went to Chengdu where he got to hold a panda cub, and Xian to see the terracotta warriors. The trip allowed us to get to know him without other family members present, and gave him confidence about traveling far from home. It also allowed us to see the sights of China through the wondering eyes of an eleven year old on his first trip abroad. It provided memories to last a lifetime for both Mike and us |
