Great Travel Moment Daybreak swept the horizon and slowly stretched along the length of the burnished buildings clustered in central Rome, creating a warm, golden light. As I walked down Via Nazionale away from Piazza della Republicca, I noted that, paradoxically, the air was still cool and dewy in the remaining shadows. Vespas, cars and ambulance sirens accompanied me and I recorded the rhythmic blaring. Preserving every memory of Rome would help ease the heartache I'd feel upon leaving. So, I vacillated between firing shot after consuming shot and deliberating for the perfect composition. Italy is an artist's candy store where each corner, each street presents a visual temptation. Who can decide? The transition commenced from perfect, early morning glow into full morning sun and composing worthwhile photographs would become futile. Until...it just appeared out of nowhere: an entire wall of windows. And there was my shot, waiting for me. |
