Great Travel Moment

Almost 40 years ago a young man from Malaysia struck out of poverty and traveled overland up through Asia, the Middle East and eventually on to Canada - with only $10 USD. Not simply a vacation, but a dream of a better life for himself, a young bride-to-be and 13 siblings. For me growing up, these stories of my fathers adventures/travels/struggles were legendary and epic. For the most part I tried to stay true to the spirit of his travels - slim budget, go overland and see the world with wondrous un-jaded eyes. This picture was one of many from my recovering of his steps and at times his struggles. When he crossed these very same mountains long ago, they probably didn't look much different. This was a way for me to touch my past and truly appreciate where I'm from and where I am - after this trip I was even more proud to be my father's son.
