Great Travel Moment I did not grow up by the beach, but something in me needs to spend time next to a vast expanse of water now and again. I spent the summer in Toulouse, France, during the European heat-wave of 2003. Toulouse is landlocked so me and a couple friends hitchhiked East to the coast. The sea breeze was a relief and I took the best nap of my life on the beach of Narbonne Plage. The sand was warm and comforting and held me suspended. The beach was not at all crowded but the families that were there played happily in the late afternoon sun. |
